Changing the Expectations
of Modern Medicine

Birmingham Longevity was founded to change the standard of medicine. Delivering time, expertise, and action to prevent disease and provide peace of mind.

At Birmingham Longevity, you’re not just hoping for good health, you’re an active participant in addressing your risk and building a plan for lifelong vitality.

The Story Behind the Science

Modern Medicine Has Changed. We Believe the Patient Experience Should Too.

Modern healthcare has achieved extraordinary things, but the traditional system is often built around short appointments, fragmented specialties, and treating problems once they become impossible to ignore. Patients are frequently left navigating their cardiovascular health, cognitive health, metabolism, cancer risk, hormones, and physical performance as separate pieces of a much larger picture.

Birmingham Longevity was created to offer a different approach.

We believe better medicine begins with more time, more information, and a deeper understanding of the individual. Our physicians have the opportunity to spend meaningful time with patients, study their health from multiple angles, and look beyond the surface to understand the factors influencing how they feel today and how they may age in the decades ahead.

Our approach brings together advanced diagnostics, comprehensive laboratory testing, imaging, genetics, body composition, cardiovascular and metabolic assessment, cognitive health, physical performance, and other important measures of long-term health. Rather than viewing these areas in isolation, we look at how they interact to create a more complete picture of the patient.

The Birmingham Longevity Approach

Live Longer. Live Better.

At Birmingham Longevity, we believe a longer life should also mean more years of strength, clarity, independence, and vitality. That’s why we go beyond traditional healthcare—combining advanced diagnostics, proactive prevention, personalized treatment, and ongoing optimization to protect both your lifespan and healthspan.

From cognitive and hormone health to physical performance, disease prevention, and complex medical care, everything we do is centered around one goal: helping you stay healthier for more of your life.

The Story That Changed Our Approach

When Dr. Jerry Kitchens’ father was diagnosed with dementia, Dr. Kitchens became frustrated with the expensive and seemingly ineffective treatments available.

On the recommendation of a friend, he read Dr. Dale Bredesen’s New York Times bestseller The End to Alzheimer’s, a groundbreaking book that outlines a plan to prevent and even reverse Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline by identifying and addressing 36 metabolic factors that can trigger “downsizing” in the brain.

That discovery reshaped his approach to medicine, focusing not just on treatment, but prevention, precision, and measurable progress.

Everyone. Knows Someone.

80% of deaths in U.S. adults age 50+ are caused by neurodegenerative, metabolic, cardiovascular, or cancer-related diseases… what we call the Four Horsemen of Death and Disease.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Research shows that preventing or delaying these conditions can add 20 years of good health and over a decade of life, giving you more time to continue your career, see your grandkids, and build a life worth living.

The Team Behind Birmingham Longevity

Birmingham Longevity was built by a team united by a shared belief: healthcare should be deeply personal, proactive, and relentlessly focused on helping patients succeed.

Led by Dr. Jerry Kitchens, alongside Dr. Brunsvold, Andrea Long, Drew Whitehead, Wilson Hand, and Mark Hand, the Birmingham Longevity team brings together expertise across medicine, cognitive health, cardiovascular and metabolic health, hormone optimization, physical performance, movement, and longevity. While our backgrounds and areas of expertise are different, our mission is the same—to understand each patient as a whole person and help them make meaningful, measurable progress.

One Team. One Patient. One Goal.

Our approach goes far beyond simply performing tests or providing recommendations. We take the time to listen, investigate, connect the dots, and understand what may be standing between a patient and their goals. Our team works collaboratively, bringing different perspectives together to create a more complete picture of each person’s health.

Most importantly, we care about the outcome. We want to see our patients feel better, perform better, reduce their risks, overcome health challenges, and continue doing the things they love for as long as possible.

That commitment doesn’t end when an appointment does. We follow progress, adjust when something isn’t working, search for answers when they aren’t obvious, and continually ask what more can be done.

We built Birmingham Longevity to practice medicine the way we believe it should be practiced—with time, curiosity, compassion, collaboration, and an unwavering commitment to the people who trust us with their health.

We’re ready to advance your health and elevate your life.
